Alpha Gamma Rho, a social-professional fraternity with leaders in Agriculture and Natural Resources, is on a new college campus. The Fraternity expanded to West Texas A&M University, To Make Better Men.
The Fraternity installed Alpha Gamma Rho Colony at West Texas A&M University on Sept. 24, 2023. Beta Xi Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho at Texas Tech University conducted the installation; eight members traveling more than a hundred miles to Canyon, Texas, located in the Texas Panhandle to the south of Amarillo, Texas. There, they initiated 30 men into the colony, including Brother Tommy Perkins, Adviser to the group and an associate professor of animal science at the school.
Alpha Gamma Rho Colony at West Texas A&M University is the first Fraternity colony installation since State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill Colony, installed Sept. 18, 2018, by Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho at Cornell University. The new colony broadens the reach of Alpha Gamma Rho in Texas, home to six chapters: Beta Lambda (A&M–Commerce), Beta Nu (Texas A&M), Beta Xi (Texas Tech), Beta Sigma (Tarleton), Beta Chi (Stephen F. Austin), and Gamma Epsilon (Sam Houston).

Alpha Gamma Rho joins nine other Greek letter organizations at West Texas A&M University, including five fraternities: Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Nu, and Omega Delta Phi. Alpha Gamma Rho is the newest Fraternity on campus since 1993.
The journey from colony to chapter is unique. Each campus presents unique challenges and opportunities. However, a colony can be chartered as an Alpha Gamma Rho chapter within two years of installation. If chartered, Alpha Gamma Rho Colony at West Texas A&M University would become Gamma Theta Chapter.
