Brother Mark Bacon said the golf outing consisted of 19 teams and roughly 30 attendees that came to socialize and enjoy the day. Later that evening, roughly 110 attendees participated in the dinner.
He said it was the amazing efforts of all who helped put the event together, the donors and sponsors that made the event possible.
“Thank you all,” Brother Bacon said. “What a great turnout and event!”
The Chapter gave away several prizes, including nearly $500 in 50/50 money between the 50/50 raffle and the putting green 50/50. The winning team this year, with a score of 58 was The Duffer's, consisting of Phil Josephson, his son Noel, his brother-in-law, Wayne and his nephew Kyle Sommer.
Brother Bacon said the event raised $9,285 for scholarships and the chapter’s housing fund.
“That exceeded my expectations by a big margin,” Brother Bacon said.
He explained that when he joined the Alumni Association Board, there was a line of credit for $55,588 to remodel the kitchen. The chapter also had a mortgage that was $359,962, which meant the chapter had a total debt of $415,550.
During the event, Brother Bacon also gave an update on some financials with the chapter. Throughout the last several years, the chapter has made efforts to clean up this debt. Brother Bacon said the support from Alpha Psi members and the tireless efforts of many people, the chapter has been able to add more than $200,000 worth of improvements into the chapter house and as of August 13, the mortgage was completely paid off.
“It was definitely a team effort and could not have been accomplished without everyone's support,” Brother Bacon said.
The chapter celebrated their accomplishments and enjoyed brotherhood with one another. Brother Bacon expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped make the event possible and said he looked forward to the next Annual Alpha Psi Classic.
