Lynn Becker was one of the individuals selected to receive the 2015 Alpha Gamma Rho Grand President's Award. He was honored with the award at the 2015 Leadership Seminar in Reno, Nevada, on February 28. His efforts consistent with the AGR Promise and Values qualified him for this award.
Becker joined the Lambda Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho in the fall of 1991 during his time as an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota. After earning his bachelor's degree in agriculture business management, he began his career on his family's farm, and since then, Becker has been dedicated to leading his family's multimillion dollar, intergenerational agribusiness, LB Pork, Inc. Since graduating, Becker has lead efforts to more than double land holdings and expand sow ownership nearly fivefold. He and his family raise row crops on 1,700 acres and market 100,000 pigs on their farms in Southern Minnesota.
Becker's career includes a strong international flavor, which he began cultivating while studying abroad in college. LB Pork has partnered with the University of Minnesota to host international students from 15 countries. By inviting these students to study and work on the farm, LB Pork has secured talented labor and best practices from all over the world. LB Pork's international involvement has lead to ownership of a hog farm in Brazil and the creation of a state-of-the-art manure digester.
In addition to career accomplishments, Becker has seen success at home as well as in his community. He has been involved in a number of organizations including the Minnesota Pork Board, Farm Bureau and the Martin County Port Producers. Becker and his family also make it a priority to be advocates for agriculture, educating others about relevant ag topics and issues.
Lynn and his wife, Julie, have three children, and they spend most of their free time supporting the children in their many sports and school activities.
Administered and nominated by a selection committee the Grand President's Award is awarded by AGR for business excellence and professional achievement. It is awarded to specific Fraternity alumni age 40 or under who have achieved remarkable success in their professional careers. This award demonstrates an honorable acknowledgement of Becker's leadership, professionalism and knowledge of his industry.
