Beta Sigma (Tarleton State) Hosts Angel Tree For Local Families

December 30, 2024 | Posted In AGRelevance

Every year, some children go without the joy of receiving a gift. Beta Sigma Chapter at Tarleton State set out to change the lives of local families years ago and has continued that quest of giving this December.

This year, the chapter helped to provide gifts for 192 children. People throughout campus and the community adopted angels from the Beta Sigma Angel Tree to spread cheer. Each recipient receives roughly $100 worth of gifts, which means the project gave more than $19,000 of gifts to local families.

The gifts provided ranged from clothing to toys to other necessities. The project began at the end of October with the adoption of angels and the beginning of gift collections. The gifts are purchased and wrapped by community members who make an adoption.

The gifts were distributed to children throughout the community of Erath County, home to Tarleton State. Beta Sigma Chapter works alongside the university’s Division of Student Engagement and Success, and the Center for Leadership, Service and Outreach to make this project a success every year.

The chapter assists with every part of the philanthropy including preparing the event, getting people to adopt an angel, loading the truck for delivery and more.

The Angel Tree at Tarleton State began in 1995 and Beta Sigma adopted the program as their fall philanthropy. As part of Alpha Gamma Rho’s efforts to Make Better Men, it is important that chapters hold projects and events that benefit the communities that surround our chapters. Beta Sigma’s Angel Tree does that and more for Erath County.

The chapter shared the success of the Angel Tree project on social media. They were joined by the University President, Dr. James Hurley, and leadership from the Division of Student Engagement and Success at Tarleton State.
