KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jan. 11, 2019 – Alpha Gamma Rho, the nation's leading agricultural fraternity, has named Carol Johnson of Quitman, Arkansas as its Chief Development Officer.
Alpha Gamma Rho is an over 100-year-old social and professional fraternity committed to cultivating a dynamic and global agriculture. Johnson will support the 72 chapters and one colony across the nation with development and fundraising efforts as the organization continues to expand and evolve.
"We are excited to have Carol join Alpha Gamma Rho and help us advance our mission to make better men for a dynamic and global agriculture," said Rex Martin, CEO of Alpha Gamma Rho. "She brings a passion for agriculture combined with a wealth of experience to help us grow the educational foundation and enhance our professional programming to continue the circle of lasting leadership for our network of more than 3,100 members and 51,000 alumni."
Johnson brings more than 16 years of development experience to her new role. Most recently, Johnson served as a senior development officer at Arkansas Children's Foundation in Little Rock. Prior to that, she worked for Arkansas State University-Beebe in several roles including as adjunct instructor of agricultural seminar and business courses, a student development specialist, a development officer and the associate vice chancellor of advancement.
She began her career with Arkansas Cattleman's Association as business manager and educational development officer. She also served as a branch manager with Farm Credit Services.
Johnson holds a bachelor's degree in agricultural business from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, a master's degree in business administration from Baker College, and a doctoral degree of educational administration with an emphasis in governance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She became associated with Alpha Gamma Rho at Arkansas State where she was a sweetheart to the Beta Epsilon Chapter.
"I never really understood the path I chose to take until now," said Johnson. "It all makes sense why a farm girl with an ag degree, years of experience and an expanded national network in higher education, and elevated fundraising skills can benefit an organization that genuinely helped cultivate me during my college career: Alpha Gamma Rho is the perfect place for me to serve."
Johnson lives on her family's farm on Bettis Mountain in Quitman. She resides on the homestead as the sixth-generation farm family with her husband, Eric, and children, Jessica and Evan. As a youth, Johnson was active in 4-H and FFA and served as a state FFA officer in 1992.
