Daryl Theis alumnus of Iowa State University joined CLAAS of America as the new Head of Marketing in December. CLAAS, a family-based business founded in 1913, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of agricultural engineering equipment. Read the press release here.

Mike Coldani, alumnus of California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo,was highlighted on KCBX Central Coast Public Radio for his family’s farm and the more than 1,000 acres of award-winning organically grown olive oil they produce. Listen to the full broadcast here.

 Caleb Swears from the University of Arkansas was selected by Agriculture Future of America (AFA) to serve as a Campus Ambassador. AFA has selected 10 Student Advisory Team members and 23 Ambassadors to serve for the 2019-2020 year. These students represent 26 schools from 22 states. During their year of service, these students will interact with agribusiness leaders, campus faculty and fellow students as they represent AFA. For the full press release click here. 

 Brady Pendleton, Tarelton State University Alumnus and former Beta Sigma Noble Ruler received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from the university in February. Robert Craig, Michigan State University alumnus received the Alumni Service Award from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources during the 2019 Ag and Natural Resources Week. 

Murray State University alumnus, Doug Lawson was selected to serve as Bank President of Field and Main Bank. Lawson also serves as the Treasurer of the Alpha Omega Housing Corporation and the Alumni Treasury of the Murray State Agricultural Alumni Association. For the full news release click here.  

Tyson Sanderfur Western Kentucky University alumnus was named the 2018 Agent of the Year for District One from Ohio County Agency of Kentucky Farm Bureau. 

Miles Novak, North Dakota State University alumnus, has accepted a full-time job as a Staff Assistant working for United States Senator Steve Daines of Montana. Duties include assisting in the office with constituent services as well as general administrative duties in the Washington D.C. office and working with the press team on communication efforts. “I am excited to finally achieve a dream of working on Capitol Hill and cannot wait to see where this opportunity takes me next.”

Ben Willoughby and Justin Yount Brothers from the University of Kentucky are spending the second half of their student teaching semester in Australia. The two were selected out of five agricultural education majors to finish their education in Balthurst, Australia teaching agricultural education to high school students.

Brandon Hanson from Iowa State University is honored with the Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award from the Iowa State University Alumni Association. The award is meant to recognize seven outstanding seniors who display high character, outstanding achievement in academics and university/community activities, and the promise for continuing these exemplary qualities as alumni. Daniel Chilson and Erik Feeney from Pennsylvania State University joined over 700 students for the annual 46 hour no-sitting, no-sleeping Penn State Dance Marathon in the fight against cancer. For more information regarding the event, follow this link.

Casey Hogan, Tarleton State University alumnus, recently returned to his alma mater as Tarleton State’s Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Broadcasting. In his role he will oversee the Tarleton State’s entire marketing and broadcasting efforts as well as game day experiences. Casey previously served on the National Board of Directors as an Undergraduate Director in in 2006-2007. For the full press release, read here. 

The Gamma Chapter of Pennsylvania State University achieved the highest average GPA out of all IFC fraternities on campus in Fall 2018 with a house cumulative of 3.40. Additionally, the chapter has the 3rd highest membership out of all fraternities on campus at 86 brothers. 

Held in Glen Burnie, Maryland on February 7, brothers from Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Penn State who work in the Ag industry in Maryland attended the Maryland Ag Council’s “Taste of Maryland Agriculture” event. This premier event for Maryland Agriculture brings together ag leaders with state and national legislators.

Alpha Delta Chapter at Montana State University was recognized by the local YMCA for their hard work in growing the Y and volunteering for their fundraising events. Brothers of the Alpha Theta and Beta Eta Chapters hosted an Alumnus Initiation of three new brothers into Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity during the leadership seminar in Richmond, Virginia. Those initiates were Chuck King, Matthew Lohr, and Kenny Bou

            Kenneth (Kenny) Bounds served Delaware farmers for almost four decades as an executive with Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit, until he retired in 2015 as senior vice     president. He has a degree in agronomy.

            Chuck King is the President of the Virginia Pumpkin Growers Association. Beta Eta   Chapter members have been the main source of labor for pumpkin picking the past         20 years. Chuck distributes pumpkins to about 15 Walmarts in Virginia, along with   other small vendors. He serves multiple leadership roles in the Montgomery County Farm Bureau Board.

            Matthew Lohr currently serves as the 16th Chief of USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). As Chief, Matt provides leadership for NRCS and its          mission to support America’s farmers, ranchers and forest landowners in their voluntary conservation efforts through a network of more than 3,000 service centers in communities nationwide.
