Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity is proud to announce on December 6, 2014, the National Fraternity of Alpha Gamma Rho installed its newest chapter, Gamma Epsilon, at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Huntsville, Texas. Fourty members were initiated during the weekend. The brothers of the Beta Nu Chapter from Texas A&M University performed the ceremony initiating the newest brothers of AGR.
Alumni and national representatives, including Grand President Cal Willemssen, Executive Director Phil Josephson, Director of Recruitment Craig Parker, Jr., and Regional Vice President Cody Lane witnessed the official initiation of the 40 brothers. Dr. Robert Lane, SHSU Professor of Agricultural Sciences is initiate number one and serves as Chapter Adviser.
The colony was installed on May 11, 2012, and since then, members have been actively participating in events hosted by the National Fraternity, including Recruitment Schools, Leadership Seminars and the 2012 and 2014 Alpha Gamma Rho National Convention. The members have also remained very proactive in building relationships on campus and in the community by participating in events such as the Heath Schielack Memorial Barbecue Cook-off and several philanthropies hosted by other organizations. J.O. "Bear" Wilson, Beta Sigma alumnus, was instrumental as off-campus adviser while the colony was getting established.
Congratulations to all those who have played a role in the success of the brothers at Sam Houston State University. Tenacity, sacrifice, hard work and dedication have brought the goals of these men to fruition.
With the guidance of their adviser, the continued support of alumni and the steadfast passion of the members, the Gamma Epsilon Chapter at Sam Houston State University, which now boasts 34 student members, is expected to flourish in the coming years.
