Alpha Chi Chapter (Western Kentucky) was recognized for academic achievement. Greek organizations across campus were recognized for some form of academic achievement, ranging from individual’s GPAs to overall GPAs of chapters. Alpha Gamma Rho placed third among the Spring 2021 Highest New Member GPAs for Men’s Organizations, sitting at an overall GPA of 3.071. Congrats to all brothers recognized in that category.
Brother Craid Uden of Kappa Chapter (Nebraska) will be recognized as the 2022 Block and Bridle Honoree. Every year, the Block and Bridle Club selects an honoree that has contributed to Nebraska agriculture through leadership, service, youth projects, community activities and involvement with the university.
Brother Uden is currently part owner of Darr Feedlot, which manages 44,000 head of cattle. He also runs his own cow-calf and heifer development operation with his wife.
Brothers from Iota Chapter (Wisconsin-Madison) helped The Association of Women in Agriculture box up meals for the Association’s “Rally to Fight Hunger” event. Five of Iota Chapter’s brothers boxed 30,000 meals for the event.
Alpha Alpha Chapter (West Virginia) will be holding their Hog Roast for the first time in four years. The brothers are currently selling tickets for the event, which will be held April 23, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $20, which a portion of the fees will be donated to The Sgt. Todd May Memorial Scholarship, which benefits students of fallen police officers working towards a college degree.
Sigma Chapter hosted a Barndaze swingdance Fundraiser in support of one of their alumni. From 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. March 28, the chapter held the fundraiser in hopes to raise $6,000 for an alumnus who was in an accident last summer. The donations will go towards his medical bills and rehabilitation costs. Entry to the event was $2 a person. For $10, the chapter offered burgers and sides for attendees in hopes to bring in enough attendees to reach their goal. Sigma Chapter raised over $4,700 at the Barndaze, while their GoFundMe Fundraiser rasied over $65,000 for their fellow alumnus.
Brothers from Alpha Zeta Chapter (Kansas State) spent their spring break learning about the different branches of agriculture through Alpha Gamma Rho alumni. Six undergraduate brothers spent their break with other Alpha Zeta alumni, where they learned about peanut, cotton, tobacco, strawberries, pigs, grapes, wine and a variety of other agricultural sectors while bonding with their alumni. Brother Randy Stoecker, an Alpha Zeta Alumni, said his time spent with the undergraduates reinforced in him the value of encouraging brotherhood bonds across different age groups and the variety of careers agriculture provides. He said he looks forward to seeing where life takes these young men when they are done with college.
Rho Chapter (Colorado State) will be holding its Alpha Gamma Rhodeo from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 13,2022, along with Sigma Alpha Sorority at Colorado State. The Rhodeo will include ax throwing, food and a silent auction. Tickets prior to the event will be $6.00 while tickets at the door will be $9.00. All proceeds will go to AgrAbility. Alpha Gamma Rho encourages all AGR chapters to collaborate with other Greek organizations for philanthropy.
Alpha Pi Chapter (Arizona) visited Dykstra Machinery as part of their professional development tour March 27. Roughly 20 brothers visited the company, which is a farming service and equipment sales dealership in Casa Grande, Arizona, which is roughly one hour from the University of Arizona. The company posted photos on their Instagram, highlighting the chapter’s visit. The chapter shared the post on their Instagram story expressing their gratitude for the tour and the support.
Brother Bobby Marchy from Pi Chapter (Oklahoma State) was recognized by the Ferguson College of Agriculture, along with 19 other Seniors of Distinction for their dedication to academics, leadership, research and service. Brother Marchy is an agricultural communications major from Ceres, California.
